Roughing It: Book 2

This section of Roughing It starts immediately after Mark's arrival in Carson City, his stagecoach journey has ended. The next two chapters deal with his first visit to Lake Tahoe. Chapter XXIV has him learn a rather painful lesson in horse trading.

Chapter XXV provides a brief history of Nevada illustrating the change from a Mormon territory into a mining territory with a jurisdictional change from Salt Lake City to Washington.

Chapters XXVI to XXX (26 - 30) tells of Mark's learning about silver mining, not to mention the ability of Indians to forecast floods.
